I went to the doctor recently and had a new nurse. One that doesn’t know me or our daughter. Got the typical when did your last cycle start question. After a moment’s thought I told her. It’s funny how it’s not on the top of my mind like it was while we were trying to get pregnant.
Then she asked if I was active. Trying not to blush I said yes.
Am I using birth control? No! Are you married or…? Married yes!
Has your husband had a vasectomy? No!
And you’re not using any kind of birth control? Other then 5 years of unexplained infertility no we’re not! And with that she shut up. Insensitive nurse in my opinion. And can’t take no for an answer.
At the time it really bugged me but now I can laugh at it. Because after all it's not me that was embarrassed it was the nurse.

that is pretty insensitive...but I'm glad you shut her up!! It's funny, they always say "if you're not preventing a baby you're trying to have one" and with us I think there's a slight twist that hasn't been considered.

That was funny. You handled it well. It is interesting how people can kind of be insensitive and not be aware of it.
I usually have to answer those questions each time, but when it comes up I mention that I've been off birth control for X years and am infertile and that shuts them up.

Amen, I can never remember when my last period was. Like you, when we were trying I knew it like the back of my hand.
Insensitive! Thankfully I never had this with any of my doctor's nurses; I guess being on the pill for my endo makes them think I don't want to get pregnant esp. with already "having" 4 kids. LOL

I hate those questions. I had to get xrays done recently and got the runaround and I kept saying - no, no, no, ni I'm not. Just understand that NO I'M NOT!!! It is rather amusing now!!!
I always cringe when i go to the GYN and have to fill out the paperwork.Q- When was your last menstrual cycle? A- The real one over five years ago, the medically induced one, last month. Q_Do you think you might be pregnant? A- Um, No.

I totally understand and after the 3rd "so you've NEVER taken birth control?" You want to just say..."what part of never did you NOT understand dear friend!!!" And your right...it was the nurse who was uncomfortable.
